Luka Doncic's (calf) arrival will undoubtedly have an effect on Reaves' future production. It will take a few games for the Lakers to find the right formula, and although Reaves will get an opportunity to be the fit opposite Doncic in the backcourt, it's entirely possible that coach JJ Redick may favor another combination, leaving an imminent demotion as a distinct possibility.

Grabs six boards in win

The Lakers' lack of frontcourt depth was perhaps the most inscrutable part of this week's blockbuster trade. Unless the Lakers make another move soon, it appears that Hayes will be their number one option in the paint, and although the fifth-year pro has a lot of experience, his ability to hold down a full-time job is an open question. He's never averaged more than 20 minutes per game in a season, and has only started 58 games since joining the league in 2019.

In the Lakers' first game without Anthony Davis, the team was humming on all cylinders behind James, who is kicking off February with a bang. He started the month with a triple-double and posted comparable numbers against the Clippers, who gave up on the game by the fourth quarter. All eyes will be on James and Luka Doncic (calf), who should share time on the court before the week is out.

The veteran forward will receive the starting nod for the third time as a member of the Lakers, adding a bit more size to the starting five with Anthony Davis (abdomen) having been traded to Dallas in exchange for Luka Doncic (calf) on Saturday. Over his last five outings (two starts), Finney-Smith has averaged 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.6 three-pointers and 1.0 steals across 24.8 minutes per contest. He has also shot 54.5 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from downtown in that five-game span.
