Offers spark off bench in loss
It was Marshall's highest scoring output since a Dec. 10 loss to the Thunder. Over his last 12 games (six starts), the 27-year-old has remained a fixture in the Dallas rotation with averages of 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 threes in 26.7 minutes. Marshall could have a more difficult time earning playing time from the Mavericks' second unit once Anthony Davis (abdomen) and P.J. Washington (personal) are available, but the former should be able to maintain minutes in the mid-20s until the frontcourt gets healthier.

Perfect from deep in team debut
Making his Mavericks debut Tuesday, Christie made an immediate impact off the bench while falling a lone rebound shy of what would've been his first double-double of the campaign. It was also a 28th consecutive game with at least one three-pointer for Christie, who appears set to play a significant role in the Dallas backcourt going forward, even if he isn't a part of the starting lineup. The 21-year-old has averaged 11.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.5 threes in 31.2 minutes through his last six outings.

Leads all scorers with 34 points
Irving went toe-to-toe with fellow superstar guard Tyrese Maxey on Tuesday, but the former's game-high 34 points were not enough for the Mavericks in his return from a one-game respite with shoulder soreness. It was Irving's ninth game of the season with at least 30 points, and he's averaging 26.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.7 threes across his last nine appearances. Until Anthony Davis (abdomen) is ready to make his team debut, the Dallas offense should continue to run through Irving.

Exits early Tuesday
Gafford finished the game with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and two blocks across 33 minutes before heading back to the locker room. The severity of the injury is unknown, but Anthony Davis (abdomen) and Kylor Kelley are candidates to start at center if Gafford remains on the shelf for Thursday's game against the Celtics.

Slides to bench Tuesday
Kessler Edwards will supplant Prosper in the starting five on Tuesday. The 22-year-old has received inconsistent playing time of late, and over his last 10 outings (two starts), he has averaged 7.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 17.3 minutes per game.
